Beauty Makeup Artist Terri Tomlinson
Hello all, I wanted to share some of my latest beauty makeup work. This was a story shot by photographer Kelly Williams, model Hannah Globe with The Dragonfly Agency, hair and makeup assistant Christa Highlander. We used colored gels and strong tones of makeup to create a “Modern Voodoo Lounge” feel. Although it looks simple enough, getting the right colors to photograph and building the pigment took some work and trial. One was all about red, one blue to purple, and the other more graphic and yellow. This one has a bit of Cleopatra in it to me. It was a great shoot and I’m very happy with the results. Some of the products I used were MAC’s loose pigments, Terri Tomlinson Rescue Palette, TT Mixer, Ardency Inn pencil liners. I found with the bright gels Kelly was using I had to really push the color and opacity for it to pop on camera. This was challenging for me as what my naked eye saw as blue would look soft in the photo. This is one of the things I love about makeup for photography, learning to adapt what we see with our naked eyes to what the camera will see.
