Dallas Makeup Artist Terri Tomlinson with some new Beauty Portfolio Work.
Testing is so important as an artist as it allows for a creativity that might not be allowed on a paying job. On a paying job I’m not going to whip out some new product to see what happens. Obviously, I need to be consistent and reliable on jobs. Testing is where I try new products, new techniques, “looks”, and see what I can create. This particular test was very fun and I’m super pleased with the images.
I love to test and am always intrigued by beauty makeup and ways I can push myself. These images were shot by Kelly Williams with model Madeleine. I wanted to create a dark graphic eye without going “smokey”. I get a bit bored with smokey as I think that drama can come from other places. This look to me has a bit more rock-n-roll to it, a bit of urban youth, and still is elegant and beautiful. For me makeup has to always be pretty. I love making the skin look perfect and luminous and alive. I love cheek and lip color. However, the emphasis is on the eye and the shape of the darkness. I purposely chose not to do a lot of mascara so without the graphic black on the eye, it is really a very natural look. I love it.
For this look I used my Rescue Palette in black to create the shape on the eye. For the last 2 in the series I covered that black with my platinum glitter which I have to say is about the most beautiful shimmer I know. I prep the skin with Embroylisse Lait Creme and my Mixer, and all product is Terri Tomlinson! And they can all be found here at Makeup101. How exciting is that?
